For the last several years, Kpop has been a phenomenon, but I feel like with Kpop Demon Hunters successfully topping Netflix AND Billboard charts, it's official: it's mainstrem. BTS is poised to reunite in 2026 now that its members are done with mandatory military service, and they (and their fans) paved the way for so many other groups to break out in the US. Jennie, Rosé and Lisa from Blackpink all have successful solo careers. Some idols have broken into acting (White Lotus, Squid Game). Did Kpop's intense online fandom actually make a difference in how it's perceived in pop culture? Are the music and visuals just undeniably good? What do you think!
