I'm writing an article about the recent facial recognition technology surge, and I'm looking for an expert who could answer a few questions on the matter. 1. For a long time, facial recognition tools were considered a threat. With ICE raids and people protesting against them, it seems that both sides are trying to use facial recognition to their advantage. Do you think this use could escalate further? 2. What could be the worst outcomes of facial recognition use? 3. Can the “good” use cases outweigh the "bad" ones? For example, the use of Clearview AI in the Ukraine-Russia war, when it is used to detect russian soldiers, “to detect infiltrators at checkpoints, process citizens who lost their IDs, identify and prosecute members of pro-Russia militias and Ukrainian collaborators, and even to locate more than 190 abducted Ukrainian children who were transported across the border to live with Russian families.” 4. What are the threats that could affect the general masses? 5. One of the main reasons why this tool hasn’t been “unleashed” to the public by other tech giants such as Google or Meta is the repercussions it would face. Big tech companies have the means to release a tool similar to Clearview AI, but they didn’t do it because of the consequences it could bring. Could this use of facial recognition systems give them a green light to create something similar? Any additional insights or comments would be highly appreciated.

  • Hello, I’m looking for experts who could comment on Strava integration with Oakley Meta Vanguard glasses. 1. The integration allows users to share visual material, such as videos and pictures, on Strava. Would you say it increases safety concerns that already surfaced with Strava revealing people’s running and walking paths? 2. Perhaps there are other ways in which this material shared on Strava could pose potential risks to users? 3. The integration also started a debate online, with some people opposing using the Meta device to record their workouts because they’re afraid of the safety of their data. Is such fear valid? 4. Considering that Meta smart glasses can film anyone, could that pose any issues or risks to people who are in the shot and don’t know that they’re being filmed? Any additional comments or insights would be highly appreciated. Thank you!
